Previewing the Blue Jackets

Howard is starting, according the News. And I don’t know how I forgot to mention this, but Filppula’s making his return today. And it sounds like Rafalski is feeling better, too.

I’m posting this from my Blackberry, so forgive me in advance if there’s anything weird with the formatting.

This is the first game of a home and home. Last time they met was that 9-1 blowout.

The Columbus Blue Jackets are coming to town sitting 14th in the conference with 35 points. Steve Mason has lost the undisputed number one goaltending spot and is fighting for starts with Mathieu Garon. The Jackets have been in a tailspin this season, even though they were hoping to build off their first ever post-season appearance last spring.

I haven’t heard about who’s starting for Detroit yet, so if anyone knows, please leave a comment. Left Wing Lock has Howard slated, but it’s unconfirmed.

I think we all know that this is the type of game that the Wings love to lose, against a weak team and some pretty poor goaltending. But they’ve got to gain traction in the division, and Columbus should be the perfect team against which they should do it.
