The Sublime

If you are a Detroit Red Wings fan you will notice that Pavel Datsyuk has been on an absolute tear recently. He had a nine-game 17 point (8g, 9a) streak broken on Saturday against Minnesota, but he also scored the only goal in the shootout. And as that goal showed, he’s not just scoring, but he’s doing it with insane amounts of style and skill. He had the goal in the Winter Classic, which Pierre McGuire insisted was “wind aided”; disregarding the fact that Pavel’s got an amazing set of wheels on him. The shootout goal against Harding was the classic “Datsyukian Deke”. And tonight, he picks up a ridiculous assist on Henrik Zetterberg’s empty netter.

I knew Pavel was going to pick it up in regards to scoring during the end of the first and into the second half of the season, but holy…

After his teammates mob him from the bench, Mickey Redmond comments that he’s like a kid just having fun. It’s easy to see that he’s having a blast scoring a lot. Along those lines, Dave Waddell at the Windsor Star has a fantastic piece on him about how he comes up with these moves.
