DET 3, VAN 2
Now that's more like it.
The Red Wings played much more like they did last spring.
Aggressive PK, rolling along at a perfect 0-7 kill (though Vancouver did score right as one penalty ended). Great conversion on the PP, too. The defense looked solid and they played a lot out of their own end, even setting themselves up in the Vancouver zone with some nice tic-tac-toe passes that looked almost like a power play.
Not as many shots in goal as the past few games--they only had 23. But I'll take good defensive play over shots on goal.
Meech in for Lebda was a great substitution, and one that I hope continues. Meech was much stronger defensively.
Filppula, even though he ended up at -1, had an exceptional game. He was all over the ice, making defensive plays and drawing penalties.
Let's hope they can keep it rolling after 6 days off.
