Here we go...

A little over 10 minutes until the season starts--or I guess re-starts?--with the Red Wings taking on the Leafs.

I'm honestly not too concerned about the fact that the Holmstrom-Datsyuk-Hossa line didn't get to play together much during the pre-season. Datsyuk is just so good at finding his linemates on the ice that he'll still manage to get the puck to Hossa on the wing, and they'll be effective regardless. It's early--they'll all get better as the season wears on.

The other interesting thing is that the Wings are currently forced to carry Howard and McCarty right now because they're both injured--they can't be sent down to GR until they've been taken off IR. I wonder if they'll think about bringing up Leino or Helm back up once Howard and (maybe) D-Mac get sent down. The other option is to, of course, keep McCarty as the 13th forward.

In other non-Wings related news, I'm still pretty stunned about this little gem of news: Sarah "I can see Russia from my house" Palin is dropping the puck on Saturday's home opener for the ceremonial faceoff. I'm dying to know how she'll be received in Philly.
